I thought it would be a few years before I would be involved with scout camp, and I never thought Alison would be too involved other then getting the boys ready for it, but for the past week and for the next two Alison and I are spending our time with over 200 boys at a BSA camp. I am the health officer and Alison is in the trading post.
The previous health officer came down with H1N1(swine) flu. We got a call at the beginning of the week, and the next day we were up in camp taking out splinters, bandaging cuts, sending boys to the hospital for stitches, and telling them over and over to drink water, wear sun screen, and wash up regularly (knowing full well that nothing I was saying was getting through).
We have some nice accommodations. We get a room in an old house that is infested with mice. We spent the first night sleeping on an air mattress, listening to the mice scurry around us. The following day I declared war with 12 traps and glue pads, 1 rat trap and 10 poison packets. We got 6 the first day and nothing since, but we haven't seen any. Things are looking up!

Oh wow. Did you get any sleep with mice running around? And six of them? You guys are really roughing it. Did you get a chance to see Hailey amidst all this?
Sounds like a great adventure! Love it!
Sounds like fun to me.
Annie, I didn't sleep a wink. I was wide awake listening to those darn mice. I could tell one of them was digging through my cookies. So at one point I made Micah get up and check them. He didnt see anything. Then about 15 mins later he checked again and there was a big hole in the cookie bag. Darn mice! But the traps have really helped. We are up to 14 now!!! And we aren't sleeping on the floor anymore either, so thats nice.
All that and you could have just come down and stayed in a mice free home and helped remodel my house! =)
